Not so long ago, a parent asked me, “Mr. Swart what are your KPI’s as school leader as you
surely have expectations from us as parents?”. Now a KPI or a key performance indicator is
defined as a quantifiable measure of performance over time for a specific objective, usually used
in a business context. I answered but over the subsequent days I started to reflect a bit more on
KPI’s, in our school setting, what each of our stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, etc.)
