Dear Parents and Friends,

It was an absolute pleasure to see our students returning on Sunday, all healthy and safe and sound!

For each student, it is ‘shoulder to the wheel’ and with a laser-like focus to labour conscientiously to achieve his or her best, and as usual, our staff will pull out all the stops to ensure this.

To note, there will be no half-term break this term, students will only return home on Friday, 26th of March 2021. The extra time afforded by this will ensure that we are current with the demands of our curricula and pending examinations. Furthermore, the return date for the third term will be the 11th of April 2021. We will adjust the academic calendar accordingly and send out a revised one.

Over the next two weeks, we will be engaged with the Entrance/Admissions
examinations 2021/22. Interest has been vigorous as usual, and we thank the parents who are speaking positive things about JHC in the public – you are our true ambassadors!

In conclusion, ‘Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom’; also, ‘True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost.’; and ‘Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.’
Stay healthy and safe until we meet again.

Yours truly,
Abraham. P. Swart
Principal

Reminders

  • New JHC Staff Member – We welcome Mr. Olayori Sogo to JHC. He is our new music teacher who started in January and moved with his family to Agbor. We wish him all the best.
  • JHC Academic calendar revised – A revised academic calendar will be shared shortly to reflect the changes.

General Matters

  • Calling your child(ren): I know that you are anxious in a positive way and always looking forward to these telephonic interactions. If you do not do this already, please ask your child(ren) about academic matters, how they are doing, and if there are challenges then share them with us. Importantly, motivate and encourage them to do their best, after all, ‘raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.’
  • Requesting leave for students to sit other assessments – At JHC we do accede to parents’ requests when students are sitting SAT, or other assessments off-campus. However, the time granted will never exceed more than a few days as the teaching & learning at JHC will always take preference. Thus, parents are expected to comply in making such requests well ahead of time and to seek approval first and not assume that it is automatic.
