Dear Parents and Friends,

On behalf of our principal, Mr Abraham Swart, I trust that this newsletter finds you well.

Our Year 12 students are back to school: After over 4 months of staying home, the federal and state governments have agreed to allow students in exit classes to resume school to commence preparation for their End of Key Stage Examinations. Right now, all year 12 students have returned to school are busy with their teachers while going through examination strategies in preparation for the WAEC examinations that commence on Monday, 17th August, 2020 until 12th September, 2020 at JHC.

COVID-19 Guidelines in school: Students and staff follow rigidly the guidelines laid down by the various authorities to avoid anyone being infected by the corona virus which is raving the whole world at present. It is evident that parents have tutored their children before their resumption as we see from time to time that the students know what to do. We thank the parents of our year 12 students for this.

Year 11 Students & Preparation for the October / November 2020 IGCSE Examinations: We would like to appreciate our Year 11 students for their resilience while undertaking online lessons at home. However, due to some circumstances beyond our control, JHC will not present candidates for the October / November 2020 IGSCE examinations.
It is important that all teachers complete all aspects of their schemes (including practical tasks) before students are presented for the examinations. Consequently, this cohort will sit for their IGCSE & WAEC examinations simultaneously in May / June 2021.
Any Year 11 student who is applying for a university placement outside Nigeria will be supported with their transcripts and some references.
We will stop online lessons with this group 14th August 2020.

Year 9 Students & Preparation for Delta state BECE: The Basic Education Certificate Examinations will start from 21st September to 25th September, 2020. Consequently, the State Government has approved that Year 9 students resume for some lessons from 8th September, 2020. Details of flight schedule (where necessary) will be shared in the next newsletter

Start of the 2020/2021 Session: The Delta State Government has penciled in 12th October,2020 as the start day for the new academic session. Further information or any changes will be communicated to parents in due course.

3rd Term 2019/2020 fees: The Board of Governors of JHC has waived the full boarding fee or a part (as applicable) for this term due to the long stay at home from March. Details of this shall be communicated to parents by our Accounts Officer via revised bills.

If you have a query on any of the above, do not hesitate to contact me at clement.ikuyinminu@jameshopecollege.edu.ng .
In conclusion, Mother Theresa advised: “Spread love everyhere you go. Let no one ever come without leaving happier.”
God wants us to be happy at all times. Know that “Happiness comes in waves, It will find you again.”

Yours Sincerely
Clement Ikuyinminu
