Dear Parents and Friends,

I trust that this newsletter finds you in good health. In a few days’ time the Year 12’s will complete their IGCSE examinations and the following week the rest of the school will be engaged in end of term examinations.

However, I look forward seeing the Year 9, 11 and 12 parents this Saturday, 16 th of November 2019, for the Academic Review Day . This event is critical as it is the premier opportunity for parents (with their child/children, students) to discuss face-to-face academic progress with staff. Please note that we shall start at 10:00 a.m. promptly with a 2:00 p.m conclusion . To help prepare, I have attached a document, ‘Making the most of Parent-Teachers Conferences at JHC’ .

By now all parents and caregivers should have perused the JHC Academic Calendar 2019/20 . Parents are encouraged to plan holidays and other events outside the academic teaching time, in other words, holiday/break times.

JHC runs two curricula, thus the importance to protect and use our academic learning time prudently. Only in cases of emergency will approval be granted for students to attend to these matters. To note, planning a holiday overseas and requesting the student(s) to leave before end of school does not qualify as an emergency.

In conclusion,
We relish news of our heroes, forgetting that we are extraordinary to somebody too.’; and, ‘Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut, that held its ground.’

Have a fantastic day until we meet again.

Yours truly,

Abraham. P. Swart

Principal
