Abraham Swart was appointed as Principal of James Hope College in January 2015.
Prior to this time, Mr. Swart had already attained a career in demonstrating consistent
success in teaching, managing and executing leadership roles in both corporate and
education sectors. Before joining JHC, Mr. Swart had occupied teaching and leadership
positions in schools across South Africa, New Zealand, UK, Kenya and St. Helena Island.
He had carried out extensive research and practice in educational systems and
methodologies, including British National curriculum from primary to secondary levels;
the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme; the International Primary Curriculum;
as well as the educational systems in South Africa, New Zealand, and the Australian
states.
Mr. Swart’s educational philosophy is that learning must be fun in order to tap into the
creative minds of children. As an educator, he believes a responsibility to ensure every
learning experience is absolutely the most exciting and eclectic. To him, schools must
be a place where students feel safe, a sense of belonging, and a part of the school
family.
